Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- To review and amend designs from contractors and consultants.
- Preparing risk assessments and writing method statements in accordance with all relevant regulations and within agreed parameters.
- Experience with design and operation of multiple plant systems is required.
- To carry out investigations into the potential impact of work on plant, infrastructure and the structural integrity of buildings, and to follow this up with site inspections either personally or by delegation to junior members of the team.
- Performing tasks associated with modification of Nuclear Power plants.
- To report directly to the Lead Civil Engineer to ensure accurate progress reports are made, allowing projects to be completed safely, on time and on budget to a the required quality.
- BS, MS Civil Engineering Degree.
- Previous involvement in large/complex projects in the Civil Nuclear sector, and an understanding of the compliance and regulatory issues in this space is advantageous as is a sound knowledge of the design and construction of heavy structures in this industry.
- Previous work on large oil and gas projects or other such industrial facilities can be considered, but recent project experience on nuclear sites is preferred.
- An understanding of Finite Element Analysis techniques such as ANSYS or ABAQUS would be beneficial, particularly if previous experience has included seismic stress analysis.
- Must be able to effectively communicate and perform the lead role to resolve and coordinate design production to assure schedule and budget compliance.
- Capable of obtaining an L or Q level clearance.
